The actions take place in a small town near the New Orleans that known for its mystic atmosphere. Right after the event that rocked the way of life of many people and vampires. Scientists from Japan have invented an artificial blood that can make vampires to eat with no problems refusing to kill. The vampires are able to declare their rights now. They stop hiding and start living among ordinary people. But some of them have a strong habit. Sookie works as a waitress in the local bar and has a unique gift of mind-reading. Fate brought her to vampire name Bill who learned to solve hungry trouble humane. But they both have problems with bloodthirsty conservators.
